I have been back and forth between VTI and PLi, but have now stuck with VTI as it is overall a better image. Whilst I am well aware that settings can be added via various tools I never seem to have much luck with these for some reason in that it seems to be very hit and miss as to whether they get added to the box or not. Would it be possible to add more settings to the plugins menu for this image especially the motorised settings which are the ones I am most interested in. I went back to the VTI image at the weekend and can report that all is now fine with the wireless network. Not quite sure why it doesnt work with the PLI image as would have thought that the drivers were exactly the same, so must be something else stopping it from working.

Thanks for the info, I am currently trying out the Open PLi image but assume testing methods are the same as with VTI in this respect. What exactly am I looking for if I put the above stated command in by telnet to see whether the stick has been detected or not and if it is not is there anything I can do?

I have just purchased a TPlink usb wlan stick which is one with a ralink chipset that I am fully aware is supported by both the VTI and Pli images. However, this for some reason is still not being recognised. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be and any possible solutions. I have also tried doing this as a cifs mount but still nothing I would like to get this going if possible as the box is in a room were wired internet is not an easy solution and wireless is the best bet. Did a search for this on forum but didn't come up with anything so apologies beforehand if it is mentioned elsewhere, perhaps in German. Does anybody know whether it is possible to set up series link type recordings on the box as per sky+ and free view boxes either direct from a particular image ( currently using VTI one) or by means of a particular plugin etc as I feel this would be a very useful thing to have. I dowloaded this from the plugins menu, but once downloaded found that it prevented me from downloading anymore plugins so removed it and the problem disappeared. this also appears to be a problem with the Dream Elite image as well hence the reason I removed it and went back to VTI again.

I did try originally with the password empty as suggested but this never worked for me hence the reason for changing the password to one of my own

Likewise, it should be possible as the PLI image allows this.

For anyone else reading this download the password changer in plugins menu to be able to change to your own preference as default password seems to be some randomly generated thing chosen by the box and this will show when you try to change it with the plugin. It is far easier to change to something you can remember (and also safer) rather than trying to guess what the default is as not something easy like password, dreambox or the like, more along the lines of Mt75a2bf& which no one will Know a…

Thus far have not had a chance to test this out as been having problems gettting the motor to work as reported elsewhere, but now working OK and dish positioning sorted out as original sat scan only picked up a small proportion of available channels on each sat. Will try the various settings mentioned above and see if it works.

As per previous posts here I have had the same problems as you gets very frustrating after spending so much time trying to sort things. As stated must be on Tuner A. Please, please make sure that all connections along the line are sound and tightened up fully. I eventually managed to get everything up and working using Open Pli image updated as appropriate through the menu system. Have given things another try on simple setup and manual scan from 5e to 40 west and thus far all seems to be going OK. The test will be when it has finished to see if it still goes from one sat to another when changing channels.

I have tried everything over quite a few days to get my box going as a motorised system but with no luck. All images tried etc. The problem seems to be an intermittent fault in that the dish will move to start off and then won't go anymore as if the tone generator has been turned off. If the box is turned off and then on again it works again for a while then stops. Do you think it is faulty or if not any suggestions as I feel like sending the box back and getting a dreambox 800 as they do work. …

After endless frustration with this matter. I have now installed the lastest Open PLI nightly build and this seems to be doing the trick ie moving the dish although it has only just started on the sat scan so I am writing this in anticipation that it will get something although if it doesnt it will probably be down to the dish being slightly out which can easily be remedied.

I was getting increasingly frustrated trying to get this set up as whatever I did including this didn't seem to be working. I could get the dish to move sometimes and then it would stop so came to the conclusion that the box could be faulty as the other receivers we have here ie a dm500 clone and an AB Sat box work, although the DM500 did run into problems as it didn't seem to be pushing out enough voltage for some reason and still didn't do anything when this was increased via the menu. I have just purchased a Technomate 2600 positioner to use with my box together with a new 0.1 twin output LNB. My previous positions I took back as being faulty although now I am not so sure although the Techomate is much better anyway.
