    • Just enter \\1.2.3.4 in the Adressline of your Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and you will see the Shares on the vu+ replace 1.2.3.4 with the ip aof your vu+

you can also use an ftp tool like filezilla
      Pustekuchen ist keine Blume.

      Vu+ DUO - 500GB HDD (Samsung EcoGreen F2) - Vu+ DUO - 500GB HDD (Samsung EcoGreen F3)
Vu+ SOLO - 500GB HDD (WD Mybook Essential 2,5") - Samsung USB DVD Brenner
      DM800 - Abcom IPBox 910 - Opticum HD TS 9600
Zotac Mag Mini als Medialplayer - Buffalo Drive Station Pro als NAS
    • Before trying to access the shares you should test the basic network funtionality as follows (presuming my crystal ball is right, it told me that you have a Windows PC, it's similar under different Operating systems):

Open the commad prompt (Windows key + R, then cmd and enter).
      In the command prompt enter

      Quellcode

      1. ping 1.2.3.4

Of course you must replace 1.2.3.4 by the IP address of your VU+ box.

If the box is reachable and your network works correctly, the result should look like this:

      Quellcode

      1. Pinging 1.2.3.4 with 32 bytes of data:
      2. Reply from 1.2.3.4: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
      3. Reply from 1.2.3.4: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
      4. Reply from 1.2.3.4: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
      5. Reply from 1.2.3.4: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64
      6. Ping statistics for 1.2.3.4:
      7. Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
      8. Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
      9. Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 1ms, Average = 0ms
    • if you are accessing it from work as u said, then u need to do what is called port forwarding. u need to change the port to your vu to another one than the default 80 (let's assume it will be 3524). now go to your router setting and port forward it to the ip of ur vu.

if you don't know how to do port forwarding send us its model and hopefully will tell you the right steps needed to do it.

now when you want to access the vu from work computer open your browser and write your router ip NOT the vu ip followed by the port (it should be like this) 1.2.3.4:3524

for this to work perfectly ur router ip must be static (the same all the time).

This is wrong, it will not work. The router IP is a LAN address (like 192.168.0.1).
It only works with the IP (which is dynamic most likely) you get from your ISP.
You can check for this IP here for example:
      whatismyip.com/

So if you want to access your Box from outside your home LAN, DynDNS is your choice ;)

    • this is what i meant (router ip from ISP) and so i said "for this to work perfectly ur router ip must be static (the same all the time)"

if he is having a static ip it should work and off course DynDNS is a good solution both ways (static or dynamic)

thanks for the clarification though, sometimes when u write about something u know and do, you imagine the others will get it.

      thanks again...
